The Fundação Antonio Amaral was established on May 20, 2007 with a donation of $20,000 from the Amaral Family to start off this worthy cause. The foundation’s primary objective is to recognize and reward academic excellence among students of Portuguese descent. Scholarships are awarded to High School Seniors and College students seeking a bachelor’s degree in an undergraduate program of study. To date, we have presented 225 scholarships totaling $356,500.00.
The foundation also provides help for people with special needs in Flagler County and also aids at-risk youth within the Portuguese community throughout the state of Florida. In addition to the scholarships offered to students of Portuguese descent, the Foundation offers two scholarships each year to local Flagler County schools.
Our primary generation of funds is attained by organizing a Golf Tournament and Picnic on the Sunday after Mother’s day in May every year. We also have various groups and individuals who donate to this worthy cause.
